The patio area to the front of the apartment overlooks wooded grounds and The Retreat, Brynhonddu shares Bwlch Trewyn Estate with a working Sheep Farm. The associated grounds are covered by a blanket Tree Preservation Order, initiated to preserve the wide variety of indigenous and non-indigenous tree species, including one of the oldest Ginkgo Biloba trees in the country (A pre-historic fruit bearing conifer with no living relatives originating in China).
We are situated in the foothills of the Black Mountains and for those wishing to venture further afield, there is easy access to the Offa‘s Dyke footpath only ¼ mile away, whilst the Brecon Beacons Mountains are a short drive away and the nearest market town of Abergavenny is 6 miles. Pandy with a local garage/shop is 1 mile, Llanthony with a famous Abbey is 7 miles and the old town of Hay on Wye is 17 Miles.
We are fortunate to have 4 local Hostelries within 2 miles of 'Brynhonddu' all offering food and covering a range of cuisine from basic to down right scrumptious. A good selection of Traditional British Beers are available at several of these hostelries, as well as the less revered Keg Beers and Lagers.
